After having had national tournaments with high level of competition for many years, and after noticing that many events were held in few cities of the country only, many of the players were becoming dissatisfied with the development of the sport in Romania. therefore, the idea came about to form a billiard association in Romania to help developing this sport and to make it more organized.

The Romanian billiard association is a non profit association located in Bucharest the capital of Romania and was founded on 01-05-2009 By Nicolas El Rattel, Babken Melkonyan and George Neculae. One of the main objectives of the association is to promote the billiard as a safe sport and to organize leagues and tournaments for amateurs all over Romania in a way to develop this sport to reaches the highest standards. some of the events that will be organized by the association are:

• The amateur league
• The Romanian open - 9 ball
• The Romanian open - 8 ball
